2023 SRD Spooks & Crew
IdahoHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Nikki Jorgenson of SRD's Haunt, to discuss what's new at SRD's Haunt for the 2024 Halloween Season!
What's new at SRD's Haunt for 2024? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?
We will be bringing back our 3 levels to choose from at our haunted house. There will be more "escape" to the house, and we have a whole new layout. New characters, sets, props, twists, & turns!
What are you most excited about for the 2024 Halloween Season?
We are most excited about seeing all of our friends from the community come back, and to meet new friends. We love to bring happiness through fear.
What differentiates SRD's Haunt from other local haunts in Idaho?
We have a whole new layout every year. You never know where you will enter, exit, come back to, or what obstacles you will face. Flamey the Klown & his killer cast are always ready for more!
How long has SRD's Haunt been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about SRD's Haunt's history?
SRD's Haunt started in the back of our little farm as SRD's Haunted Acre over 9 years ago. We discovered the screams under the pig barns out back and learned of the legend of Flamey the Killer Klown and his Sideshow Crew. Each year they come back and we haunt one and all again. This is our 3rd year to bring our spooks back to the haunted D Barn at the Bannock County Event Center.
What's your favorite experience since opening SRD's Haunt?
Our favorite experience during the operation of the haunt was a tiny 2 year old girl named Emma. She had absolutely ZERO fear in her. She walked through and checked out every prop and spook in the place. She got right up on my Zombie's Eyes (or lack thereof). It is important to note that many grown men run from my zombie. I could not help but to just watch and enjoy her as she wandered through with her grandma (Grandma was much more frightened). She smiled and giggled and absolutely loved every moment.
How long is a typical haunt experience at SRD's Haunt from start to finish?
A "Spook Alley" experience is about a 5 minute walk through.
A Level 2 or 3 is typically 15-20 minutes.
Our line can be 30-45 minutes on Saturdays near the end of the month.
On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say SRD's Haunt is? Why?
Scares are so subjective! If you go looking for the most fear... we deliver close to the 10. We turn it down to a 1-3 for the littles that do the Spook Alley.
Does SRD's Haunt's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?
We do have real haunted history in our Barn that we haunt. The Bannock County Event Center sits on a POW Camp from WWII. The guard towers still remain just outside of our doors & nearby. When there have been paranormal experts come in... they have told us of Soldiers as well as boot leggers from Pocatello years past that remain there. There are areas more "active" than others that many say you can feel as you go through.
What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?
Halloween has been about family for us. We are Frank & Nikki Jorgenson, along with our 5 kids we started SRD's Haunt. Nikki's mother had a haunted attraction while growing up. Frank worked in several haunted houses in the Salt Lake area as a teen. We started our haunted house with our 5 kids, neighbors, cousins, and friends in 2016. SRD's Haunted Acre was really big in 2020 with Covid shutting many down. 3 radio stations showed up on our road & the traffic was wild in our little area.
We absolutely love to bring the fun in fear to everyone. We will keep doing it as long as it brings our cast together and spreads smiles.
How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance SRD's Haunt?
At SRD's Haunt we use more people and less animatronic. We also are seizure disorder friendly as well as don't use fog in our haunt. This means we use lighting in the most creative & fun ways.
Can SRD's Haunt accommodate large groups? How many people can experience SRD's Haunt together as a group?
We recommend groups of 10 or less go through at a time. We also offer a group pass that is only available to purchase online.
Does SRD's Haunt offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?
Our Group Pass that is available online is available all season.
Opening weekend we are offering a Bounce Back for 50% off special.
Anything else you'd like to let us know about SRD's Haunt?
Our haunt is in a Barn that is used as a barn the rest of the year. The floors are mostly made of dirt where the walking paths are. There are stairs, smells, darkness, & tight spaces... beware...
