2023 Question and Answer With SRD's Haunt

Home » Blog » Idaho Haunts: An In Depth Look

IdahoHauntedHouses.com recently sat down with Nikki Jorgenson of SRD's Haunt, to discuss what's new at SRD's Haunt for the 2023 Halloween Season!

What's new at SRD's Haunt for 2023? Do you have any new rides, attractions, or special features that Haunt Seekers should know about?

We have stopped our guided tours this year. Self guided will help our long lines. We also have added an escape room type feature where your group will have to get a key to progress through. There will be a spook alley option still available. It will be the first section of the haunt and then will exit.

What are you most excited about for the 2023 Halloween Season?

We have double the cast this year and I am excited to expand our haunt family with a crew that loves what they do.

What differentiates SRD's Haunt from other local haunts in Idaho?

We are a local family owned and operated haunted house with mainly high school and university students that make up our staff. We also have an oddities display that's fun in our lobby area.

How long has SRD's Haunt been in business? Can you tell us a bit more about SRD's Haunt's history?

This is our 8th year in operation as SRDs Haunt. Only our 2nd year at the Pocatello Fairgrounds. We are a family that is local to Pocatello. We have 5 generations of haunters in our family. Our owners have decades of experience bringing the fear. Proceeds go to help care for the animals at SRD'S Therapy Animals Program.

What's your favorite experience since opening SRD's Haunt?

We have had 1000s of experiences that warm our heart and keep us going. From giving those kids that might not always "fit in" a haunt family that embraces them... To the tiny Emma the 2 year old came through with absolutely zero fear. Checking out my zombies eyes and the scariest displays that cause many grown men to run!

How long is a typical haunt experience at SRD's Haunt from start to finish?

10-20 minutes from start inside the Haunted House. Wait times vary. Early in the season is less of a wait.

On a scale from 1 to 10, how scary would you say SRD's Haunt is? Why?

8... we have no touching but we never hold back. If you are ready to be scared... you will get scared. But we like to think we don't take anything too far.

Does SRD's Haunt's property have any real haunted history? Do you have a spooky encounter you'd like to share?

We have had experts come to the building and have found several entities. The location is on the grounds of a prison war camp.

What inspired you to open up a haunted attraction? What's your favorite part of the business?

I worked in my family haunt as a small child on up through adulthood and love to see people scream and run but always leave laughing ??

How has new technology (i.e. animatronics, special props, etc) helped you to enhance SRD's Haunt?

We have put in some new lights. But you will not find much for animatronics and electronic tricks in our house. Our spooks come after you!

Can SRD's Haunt accommodate large groups? How many people can experience SRD's Haunt together as a group?

We do have an online only group pass for a group of 10. We like to keep groups at 10-12 for the main haunt. And up to 15 for a spook alley.

Does SRD's Haunt offer any special deals, discounts, or coupons?

Our opening night is BOGO! We also do ticket Giveaways if you follow @srdshaunt on social media.

Anything else you'd like to let us know about SRD's Haunt?

We appreciate the community support and can't wait to give you some Thrills n Chills this October!
